The 149th Regiment New York Volunteers Re-enactors website

New York State and the Civil War This site covers the history of New York's involvement in the Civil War.  A very complete site.

The U. S. Civil War Center This site is the main site for Civil War information and is a focal point of activities regarding the Civil War Sesquicentennial.

Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War - The SUVCW is the successor to the Grand Army of the Republic, which was the organization of Union veterans of the Civil War.  Full membership is open to all male descendents of Civil War veterans, and associate membership is open to all others.

Department of New York, SUVCW - This is the SUVCW organization for New York State.  Listed here are all of the active camps (local organizations) for New York.

A word about the SUVCW: I have been a member of the SUVCW since 1999.  While I am not the most active member, I am still proud of my membership.  The SUVCW works to keep the memory of Union soldiers who risked everything in defense of what they thought was right.  From cataloging the graves of each Union soldier to speeches at local schools and events, the goal of the SUVCW is to honor these great men.  I encourage everyone eligible for membership to join.

2nd NY Cavalry and 21st NY Cavalry - These two sites were created and are maintained by my friend Jim Loudon.  His Great-Great Grandfather was an officer in the 2nd and his Great Grandfather was in the 21st.  Both of these sites are growing nicely and are worth a look.

James River Publications - This site contains a lot of information, including information on every regimental history known.

The Pinhole Photographs of Willie Anne Wright: Civil War Redux Portfolio - I realize that this is not really about the Civil War, but her photographs of Civil War re-enactors seem to take you back in time.  Quite interesting seeing a Civil War soldier standing next to a Dodge pickup truck.  I highly recommend a look at her site.
