The 149th was mustered into the U.S. service at Syracuse, N.Y., on the 17th and 18th of September, 1862 by H. De B. Clay; companies C, D, G and H on the former, and the remaining on the latter date.  Most of its members were enlisted from the city of Syracuse.

The original members were mustered out of service June 12th, 1865, at Bladensburg, Md., while the recruits, and those whose service had been extended by court-marshal, were transferred to the 102nd New York and discharged afterwards.

The roster of each company and the Field and Staff are listed at the links below.  Eventually, each man will have a page with all of the information that I have about him.  Currently, only the Field and Staff are complete but some men from the other companies are complete.  If you have information that you would like to have included for any of the 149th, please forward it to me and I will be happy to include it on his page.
