Hamilton D. Borden entered the service as a private in
Company H under enlistment dated September 4, 1862 at the age of 44, and was
immediately detailed for clerical duty in the Quartermaster department.
He was promoted from Private to Quartermaster Sergeant April 10, 1863, and
from Quartermaster Sergeant to Quartermaster August 1, 1864, commission dated
July 14, 1864, rank July 1, 1864.
He was mustered out of service as Quartermaster of the
regiment and brevetted Captain.
