Norman F. Potter enlisted at Pompey, New York on August 28, 1862
at the age of 36.
He was wounded in the arm severely at Lookout Mountain,
Tennessee, November 24, 1863; sent to the hospital and discharged at Rochester,
New York on July 18, 1864, for injury.
He was awarded the Medal of Honor
by the Secretary of War for the capture of a Confederate flag at Lookout Mountain
November 24, 1863.
