Philip Goettel

Philip Goettel enlisted on August 31, 1862 at the age of
22. He was wounded at
Chancellorsville, Virginia on May 3, 1863. He was promoted to Corporal
on September 1, 1864.
He was awarded the Medal of
Honor by the Secretary of War for the capture of a Confederate flag at Lookout
Mountain, Tennessee on November 24, 1863.
