John Desmond enlisted August 25, 1862, at the age of 19.
He was slightly wounded in the ear at Chancellorsville, Virginia, May 3,
1863. He was wounded severely in the side at New Hope Church, Georgia,
on May 25, 1864, and died in the hospital at Chattanooga, Tennessee on June 7,
1864.
